Industrial Strategy Consultation

With the Government having recently announced its Industrial Strategy consultation – and the creative and cultural sector one of five key sectors outlined within this – this is a timely moment to highlight a new programme in the Hampshire and Solent area designed to address employment gaps and build and diversify the work force in this sector. Hampshire Chamber of Commerce is working in a new partnership with Southampton-based youth arts charity, Artswork, to implement a new programme of work. Entitled Creativity Plus, this is about growing and securing an innovative creative work-based learning programme in the area and in particular, enhancing the delivery of Artswork’s Apprenticeship Programme. We are now calling for interested employers! With a small wage subsidy for participating employers, Creativity Plus will include a creative enterprise enrichment programme for apprentices enrolled with Artswork as the training provider, and we wish to grow the range of employers interested in developing or enhancing their workforce. The Chamber is particularly interested to hear from employers who would like to have a chat about taking an apprentice into the work place as part of this programme. The training that Artswork provides is sub contracted by Eastleigh College and is now in its fifth year of successful delivery. It is relevant to a wide range of creative industry employers and covers administration, marketing, event management and operations. Do get in touch with Stewart Dunn ASAP if you would like to know more. The Chamber will work with Artswork to lead a new networking forum for creative industry employers. The first meeting will take place in the spring. Further details will be announced.
